Seattle RP Church Statement of Purpose

Introduction: We, the Seattle Reformed Presbyterian Church, are a congregation of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America and are committed to the standards and government of that body. As a distinct group of God's people, our purpose and ministry include the community of the Seattle church, the neighborhoods in which we live, the places where we work, and the type of work in which we are engaged.

Statement of Purpose: The purpose of this congregation is to live for the glory of God and to exhibit His love to others in works of ministry and service. We shall encourage one another to pursue a deep spiritual relationship with God and to manifest obedience and vitality in every aspect of life, including marriage, family, education, employment, recreation and the church.

This purpose shall be accomplished by:

1. WORSHIP. Joyfully expressing our thanksgiving to God who has created and redeemed us in Jesus Christ. Our corporate response to God's Word and the Holy Spirit's application will encourage daily enthusiastic praise and worship of our Lord as we work and rest in His world.

2. FREINDSHIPS. Prayerfully seeking to develop friendships as individuals, as families, and within group relationships which will result in mutual encouragement, trust, comunication and bearing one another's burdens.

3. NURTURE. Recognizing the gifts from God to each of us by seeking Godly stewardship in their use, and especially recognizing the blessing of children by teachin them Biblical truth, encouraging a personal commitment to Jesus Christ, and building them up in Him.

4. SERVICE. Using our individual and shared gifts and interests both on an intformal daily basis and through organized ministries to meet needs in the congregation, in our daily work, in our neighborhoods, in our communities. Such works of loving service shall include bearing a Biblical witness concerning current social issues.

5. EVANGELISM. Giving God's message of life in Christ, with the expectation that God will draw people to Himself and that His kingdom will advance throughout the earth.
